One Voice: The Power of a City Praying

This Sunday, 14th September 2025, churches across Devonport will join together for a day of prayer One Voice Devonport. From sunrise to sunset, 6:00am to 6:00pm, every congregation will be praying in their own location and in their own way. Then at 7:00pm at C3 Church Devonport, we will gather as one family to close the day in worship and united prayer.

Moments like this are significant. They remind us that prayer is not the work of one church, one style, or one generation — it is the work of the Body of Christ united. When leaders and people humble themselves and seek God together, history shows that cities can be changed. As 2 Chronicles 7:14 declares:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Why This Matters for Our City

Life in Devonport, like everywhere, carries its share of challenges. Families are under pressure, young people face uncertainty, and many feel the weight of change in our world. Yet in the middle of these struggles, there is also opportunity, hope, and the promise of God’s presence with us.

Prayer lifts our eyes above the difficulties and reminds us that God is still at work. And when we stand together as one, we declare that our faith is not in politics, programmes, or personalities, but in the living God who hears prayer.

When a whole city comes together to pray, we are proclaiming that no situation is beyond His reach and no person is beyond His care.

A Call to Unity

One Voice Devonport is not about numbers or events. It’s about unity. It’s about setting aside labels and preferences to come as one family, seeking God’s heart for our city. Every prayer — whispered in the morning, spoken at noon, sung in worship, or lifted at the evening gathering — is part of the chorus of God’s people saying: “Lord, let Your Kingdom come here.”

An Invitation

Whether you’ve been part of church life for decades or are only just beginning to explore faith, you are welcome. This Sunday is an opportunity to step into something bigger than ourselves, a whole city choosing to pray with one voice.

6:00am to 6:00pm, sunrise to sunset, every Devonport congregation will be praying in their own location. Chat with your pastor to find out what this will look like at your church gathering.

We will then finish the day together as one, at C3 Church Devonport, for one of combined prayer. 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

Come expectant.

Come ready to seek God.

Come believing that when the Church unites as one in prayer, cities change.
