Christmas 2025 – Here to Serve Our City
Saturday 13 December | Devonport CBD & Kmart
This Christmas, the churches of Devonport are coming together again to bless our city through practical love, generosity, and hope.
Building on last year’s Here to Serve, we’re inviting everyone across the Devonport Churches to come together for one coordinated day of service and giving — Saturday, 13 December — showing what happens when the Church serves as one.
What’s Happening
🎁 Gift Wrapping Stations
We’ll be in the Mall and Kmart, offering free gift wrapping and warm smiles to shoppers.
☕ Free Coffees & Acts of Kindness
Across Devonport, teams will be out sharing free coffees, small gifts, and words of encouragement — simple acts that remind people of the love and kindness at the heart of Christmas.
🛍️ Also, supporting the Salvos, Bags of Hope Appeal (Now Underway!)
Across our gatherings, churches are also packing Bags of Hope in partnership with The Salvation Army to support local families experiencing hardship this Christmas.
We’d love every church to get behind this!
How You Can Help
1️⃣ Join the Serve Day – Saturday 13 December
We’d love to see at least 50 -100 people from across our churches serving together on the day — wrapping gifts, handing out coffees, and just simply showing kindness all over Devonport.
Select where you can best serve on the day, you will be provide with an ID Lanyard and safety vest. You are required to register
Have a chat with your pastor and make sure your church is taking part, or you can sign-up here now –
2️⃣ Fill a Bag of Hope
Each bag contains grocery essentials (list attached).
We’re encouraging gift drives at churches — especially gifts for teenagers (13–17), where need is greatest.
The average cost to fill one is around $70–$80, and bags can be filled by individuals, families, or groups.
Alternatively, set up a collection box at your church for the listed items
3️⃣ Blessing Cards
Children’s or youth groups can create handmade cards or messages of encouragement to go inside each Bag of Hope.
All filled bags need to be returned by the first week of December so that they can be distributed in time for Christmas.
❤️ Why We Do It
At Christmas, we remember the greatest gift ever given — Jesus.
Together, as one church with many gatherings, we want to reflect His love in action, bringing light, joy, and hope to every street and every person we meet.
Let’s serve our city, bless our neighbours, and celebrate the hope of Christmas — together.
