An Invitation to The First Hymn Screening
Somewhere in the dust of ancient Egypt, a torn scrap of papyrus was found. Not a royal decree or a philosopher’s words—but a hymn. A song of praise to Jesus, written and sung by some of the earliest believers.
No lights. No stage. Just voices rising in the desert.
That kind of story gets to me. It reminds us that worship isn’t new. It’s deep. Ancient. And still alive.
That’s why we’re hosting a special private screening of The First Hymn here in Devonport—a stunning documentary that uncovers this remarkable find and brings it back to life. Historian John Dickson leads the journey, joined by Chris Tomlin and Ben Fielding, who reimagine the hymn for today—culminating in a moment of worship that crosses centuries.
This is a one-night moment to come together—not just to watch a film, but to be reminded of the thread we’re part of.
